WUHAN, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The first batch of overseas stamp exhibits for the World Stamp Exhibition arrived Wednesday evening in the central Chinese city of Wuhan.

The exhibits, worth more than 2 million U.S. dollars, came from the United States, including four stamp albums, 2,614 stamps and envelopes.

China 2019 World Stamp Exhibition will be held at the International Expo Center in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, from June 11 to 17.

A total of 87 countries and regions have signed up for the exhibition, which is expected to feature 4,700 framed sets of stamps, 2,500 of which are from overseas exhibitors, according to the State Post Bureau (SPB).

Overseas exhibitors brought exhibits to China from June 5, and 170,000 exhibits from 48 countries and regions will arrive in China on June 9.

The exhibition will showcase collections of stamps that the People's Republic of China has issued since its founding 70 years ago.

It will be the third time that China hosts the world stamp exhibition. The exhibition this year will be of larger scale and feature more innovation.

The event aims to promote the exchange of Chinese and foreign philatelic culture, enhance the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and the rest of the world and further develop postal and philatelic services.
