BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhua) -- "Going Vertical," a dramatic Russian sports film, will arrive at cinemas across China on Thursday.

Based on real events from the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, the film focuses on the legendary final battle between the USSR and the USA basketball teams, as the former ended the latter's 36-year unbeaten streak in the dying seconds of the game.

According to the film's director Anton Megerdichev, the game was so extraordinary that it is still remembered by both Americans and Russians, and producers worked to understand the peoples in order to objectively reproduce the scenes of the game.

Starring Vladimir Mashkov, John Savage and Marat Basharov, the film broke Russia's box office record for domestic films upon its debut in the country in 2017.

It was already screened at the 9th Beijing International Film Festival in April, as this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Russia.
