BEIRUT, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Renaud Muselier, president of the southern region of France, said on Thursday that France will sign agreements with Lebanon to boost diplomatic cooperation between several regions in the two countries, the National News Agency reported.

"We want to create direct cooperation between Marseille and several areas in Lebanon including Jezzine and Tyre for instance," Muselier was quoted as saying during his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

Muselier explained that cooperation will cover fields such as creation of natural gardens, rehabilitation of municipalities' police, and cooperation among physicians and students in Lebanon and France.

"We have also discussed the potential of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of CEDRE," he added.

The CEDRE is an international conference which pledged to issue 11 billion U.S. dollars in loans and donations for Lebanon on condition that the country launches serious reforms.
