NAIROBI, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The African leg of the Diamond League runs this Sunday in Rabat with a horde of international stars on parade.
Africa athletes will be led by Kenyans Abraham Kibiwot, Leonard Bett in the men's 3,000m steeplechase and Brimin Kiprotich in the men's 1,500m.
There will also be world class athletes from around the world as the series gathers pace towards halfway point.
"We celebrate the African leg of the Diamond League and it will be critical for me to win the steeplechase now that world champion Conseslus Kipruto is out injured," said Kibiwot on Friday.
Rabat hosts the international top five 800-meter track running athletes, such as American Clayton Murphy, Botswananian Nijel Amos, and the three distinguished Kenyans, Jonathan Kitilit, and Ferguson Rotich in the 800m race.
Those athletes are expected to make an exceptional show in front of the Moroccan fans passionate about track and field competition. The crowds will follow closely the young Moroccan Mostafa Smaili.
In the women's 1500m race, World Indoor champion Genzebe Dibaba and Jennifer Simpson are the athletes to beat.
Women's pole vault has a clash of titans that will bring together the Greek Katerina Stefanidi, the Russian Anzhelika Sidorova and the Americans Sandi Morris and Jennifer Suhr.
For the men's category, the spotlight will be on Swedish giant Daniel Stahl, Jamaican Fedrick Dacres, German Christoph Harting, and Polish Malachowski Piotr.
Africa 100m champion Ivorian Marie-Jose Ta Lou and Dutch Dafne Schippers lead in the sprints.
