WUHAN, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 FIP General World Stamp Exhibition closed Monday in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, seeing a record high of more than 400,000 visitors, its operator revealed.

According to Liu Ziqing, deputy mayor of Wuhan, the week-long event has attracted stamp fans from 84 countries and regions, which has boosted their cultural exchanges and mutual learning.

The exhibition features 4,683 framed sets of stamps and 11 cultural activities. The postal departments from the United Nations, Australia, New Zealand, etc. have issued themed stamps for the event.

It also showcased collections of stamps that the People's Republic of China has issued since its founding 70 years ago.

The event aims to promote the exchange of Chinese and foreign philatelic culture, enhance the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and the rest of the world and further develop postal and philatelic services.

It was the third time that China hosted the world stamp exhibition. China joined the international association for stamp collectors and philatelists (FIP) in 1983 and hosted the world stamp exhibition in 1999 and 2009.

The exhibition will be held in London in 2020.
