MADRID, July 1 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona continue their process of clearing out fringe players from their first team squad with the sale of midfielder Denis Suarez to Celta Vigo for a fee of just under 13 million euros (14.7 million US dollars).

The move sees Suarez return to the club where he began his career before joining Manchester City as a teenager.

The 25-year-old has already had several clubs, joining Barcelona following his spell in England, before moving to Sevilla and Villarreal before his return to the Camp Nou, where he was viewed as a possible long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta.

However, Suarez found it hard to convince first Luis Enrique and then Ernesto Valverde during his return to Barcelona and was allowed to join Arsenal on loan in January, although injury blighted his spell in the Premier League.

The transfer was confirmed shortly before midnight on Sunday and means that Barcelona have now raised around 100 million euros in sales this summer after offloading Paco Alcacer, Andre Gomez (who were on loan with Borussia Dortmund and Everton respectively).

Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen joined Valencia last week for 35 million euros last week (although Barca signed Valencia keeper Norbeto Neto for around 25 million), while youngster Marc Cardona will join Osasuna for 2.5 million euros and former B-team player Marc Cucurella joined Eibar after a successful loan last season.
