TAIYUAN, China, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The organizers of China's 2nd Youth Games announced on Saturday they will recruit 44,835 volunteers during the competition.

Of the volunteers, 7,559 people will help with the competition, 5,081 with out-of-competition services, and the others with communities. Many of them will be spread out in venues in cities across Shanxi Province, which will host the Youth Games in August.

"The Youth Games will build a platform for young people to communicate with and learn from each other and to develop their skills. Being a volunteer will be a memorable experience for them," said Liu Runxiang, Vice General Secretary of Taiyuan University of Technology.

Liu said the Youth Games is not only a contest of sports, but a stage for dedicated young people to get involved with the community and help Shanxi promote a positive image to the public.

This year's Youth Games marks the first time Shanxi has organized a national multi-sports event.
