RIYADH, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen announced on Tuesday the interception of three drones launched from Amran Province that were heading to the kingdom.

The spokesperson of the coalition, Col. Turki Al Maliki, said in a statement on Saudi Press Agency that the three destroyed drones launched by Houthis were targeting civilian sites in the Saudi border cities in Jazan and Abha.

The coalition announced on Monday the interception of two drones in Yemen that targeted Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.

He said that while the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen is in Sanaa, the Houthi militia continues to target civilian airports in Abha, Jazan and Najran, as well as civilians and civilian facilities, proving its criminality and extremist thought against the Yemeni people and neighboring countries.

He stressed that the command of the joint forces of the coalition will take all actions to strike the militia, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
