DAMASCUS, July 17 (Xinhua) -- At least 16 civilians were wounded on Wednesday when an explosion occurred in Syria's southern province of Daraa, state TV reported.
The explosion took place in the al-Dahiyeh neighborhood in Daraa, said the report.
Further details about the bombing are still forthcoming.
As the birthplace of the Syrian war that erupted in 2011, Daraa is both symbolically and militarily significant for the Syrian army, which won a big victory by recapturing the province from the rebels in 2018.
