RIYADH, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir on Sunday warned Iran of perpetrating any violations of the freedom of navigation.

Any assault on the freedom of navigation is a violation of international law. Iran must realize that its acts of intercepting ships, including most recently the British ship, are completely unacceptable, Jubeir said in a tweet.

He called upon the world community to take actions to deter such behavior.

British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt had said the British-flagged ship Stena Imperto was seized in Omani waters in clear contravention of international law and then forced to sail into Iran.

Tehran, however, said the British tanker, boarding a crew of 23 persons, was captured after it collided with a fishing boat.
