NAIROBI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Olympic 5,000m silver medalist Helen Obiri said she will not rest on her laurels even after revenging her loss to compatriot Agnes Jebet and Dutch Sifan Hassan at the London Diamond League meeting.

Obiri, who is also the Africa and Commonwealth Games champion, has shown her progress since falling in Stockholm Diamond League that she is ready to defend her world title in Doha in October.

"I am so happy with my progress. After the fall in Stockholm, I returned in Stafford, United States and didn't do well. But I loved the track in London and I have done my best and I ran the way I wanted to," said Obiri on Monday.

"In the last lap I was thinking, work hard and I said to myself when I went past Hassan, 'Let me go and see if you can catch me'," she added.

Kenya is set to hold its national trials for Doha World Championships in Nairobi on Aug. 20 and Obiri, like many other elite runners will be keen to secure her slot in the team, especially in 5,000m race where she intends to double.

Athletics Kenya (AK) has confirmed that athletes who are defending champions or winners of Diamond League trophies will be given wild card during the trials.
