DAMASCUS, July 22 (Xinhua) -- At least five civilians were killed on Monday by renewed rebels' mortar shelling on residential neighborhoods in the northern city of Aleppo, state news agency SANA reported.
The fresh mortar shelling targeted the neighborhoods of Jamiliyeh and Hamadaniyeh in Aleppo, SANA said.
Since being recaptured by the Syrian army in 2016, the provincial capital of Aleppo has remained largely safe except for mortar shellings from rebels.
The radical rebel groups, based in the western and northern countryside of Aleppo, frequently fire mortar shells on the city and government-held areas in the countryside.
