KAMPALA, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Uganda Premier League side Vipers Sports Club have sacked Kenyan-born coach Michael Nam Ouma after the club failed to defend the Premier League title they won in 2018.

Abdul Wasike, the club's spokesman said on Monday that the technical department has also been dissolved immediately.

"Vipers Sports Club would like to thank Ouma and the technical team for the services rendered to the club and we wish them the best going forward," Wasike said, noting that the club has now started a process for the recruitment of a new coach and technical staff.

Ouma took over in December 2018 after the Club sacked their Mexican tactician Javier Martinez Espinosa following a string of poor results.

Under Ouma as coach, the club managed to finish third in the Uganda Premier League and crashed out at the semis in the Uganda Cup.

"I cannot say much about this development. But this is what it means to be a coach around the world because we lose our jobs any time," Ouma told Xinhua.
