ISTANBUL, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The death toll has risen to five from the flash floods that hit northwestern Turkey last week, as two more bodies were found on Tuesday, Turkey's minister of environment and urbanization said.

"The search and rescue operation is continuing to find the remaining two missing children," Murat Kurum told reporters on the scene.

Earlier in the day, the rescue teams recovered the bodies of a woman and her daughter who were listed as missing in Duzce province.

The minister said a total of 475 buildings were damaged in the province, while 66 others are facing a potential collapse.

According to press reports, over 200 people have been rescued from the area, which was hit by heavy rainfalls last Wednesday that triggered landslides and flash floods.

One was reported dead and six others missing initially in the affected area.
