BEIRUT, July 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday that Washington is committed to supporting Lebanon's stability, security and prosperity, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
NNA reported a statement received by Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil from Pompeo, saying that the United States is also committed to supporting the work of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
"The UN peacekeepers are vital to face the challenges of peace and security in the country and a proper budget for the UNIFIL is crucial," Pompeo said in a cable message sent to Bassil.
