China's Zheng into second round at San Jose WTA Open

WASHINGTON, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China's Zheng Saisai soundly defeated Heather Watson of Britain in straight sets to make the second round of the San Jose Open on Tuesday.

Zheng, ranked 55th in the world, needed just one hour and 20 minutes to dispatch her opponent 6-3, 6-1.

Zheng converted on six out of 13 break points in the match while Watson converted on two out of five break chances.

The San Jose Open, one of the warm-up tournaments in the run-up to the US Open, will end on August 4.
