SANAA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said they launched a ballistic missile toward Saudi Arabia on Thursday, according to the group-controlled Saba news agency.

"The long-range missile targeted a military target in Dammam region," the statement quoted a Houthi military spokesman as saying without providing further details on the target.

There was no comment from Saudi side on the alleged attack.

The attack on Saudi Arabia came a few hours after the Houthis fired another ballistic missile at al-Jala'a military camp in the Yemeni southern port city of Aden, the temporarily capital of the Yemeni Saudi-backed government, killing at least 40 soldiers, according to Saudi-owned Al Arabiya TV.

In January 2019, the Houthi bomb-laden drone killed dozens of government forces at a military parade in al-Anad air base in the southern province of Lahj.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled internationally-recognized government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
