MACAO, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Macao International Airport (MIA) recorded its busiest month in July to reach the highest passenger movements and highest aircraft movement in the airport's 24-years history, MIA said here on Wednesday.
The airport said it handled 850,000 passenger flow and over 6,800 landings and take-offs in July, gaining 15 percent and 19 percent over last year respectively. The daily average traffic reaches 27,000 passengers, and the daily average aircraft movement also reaches 220 flight movements.
It added that the markets of the mainland, Southeast Asia and China's Taiwan region recorded increase of 26 percent, 13 percent and 3 percent respectively compared to the same period of last year.
In the first seven months of 2019, MIA has handled more than 5.58 million passengers, representing a year-on-year growth of 17 percent. Flight movements at MIA recorded year-on-year increase of 19 percent to over 44,000 movements.
Passengers travel with conventional and low cost carrier recorded steady growth of 15 percent and 24 percent respectively in the first seven months of 2019.
MIA expected the passenger traffic and flight movements to grow even more and should make another breakthrough during the peak summer vacation season in this August.
