China confirm 14-player squad for Asian Volleyball Championship

BEIJING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The China Volleyball Association has announced its 14-player squad for the upcoming Asian Volleyball Championship.

The tournament is to be held from August 18 to 25 in South Korea, with Bao Zhuang, assistant coach for Lang Ping during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, appearing as head coach for this Chinese side.

Zheng Yixin is the sole first-team player from China's national women's volleyball team to have been called up for the Asian tournament, with all other players coming from the reserve team.

Often compared to China's superstar Zhu Ting, Liu Yanhan has been named captain for the tournament.

China's 14-member squad for the Asian Volleyball Championship is as follows:

Liu Yanhan (captain), Ding Linyu, Yang Hanyu, Du Qingqing, Zhang Yichan, Gao Yi, Jin Ye, Zhong Hui, Wang Yizhu, Sun Yan, Zheng Yixin, Ni Feifan, Wang Weiyi, Duan Fang.
