RIYADH, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen targeted Houthi military sites in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported Tuesday.

According to the coalition spokesman Turki Al Maliki, the operation on Monday evening targeted caves used by the Houthi militia to store ballistic missiles, drones and weapons.

The caves are located in the Faj Atan and Al-Aamd camp in the Houthi-held capital, he said.

The operation was carried out in accordance with international humanitarian and customary law, while the coalition had taken all preventive measures to protect civilians from any collateral damage, the spokesman added.

The operation came two days after a drone attack caused a minor fire in a gas plant in Shaybah Oil Field in eastern Saudi Arabia.
