SHANGHAI, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Disney Resort will implement new ticketing criteria for children to make sure more children can enjoy preferential prices, said the resort Tuesday.
From Oct. 8, children visiting Shanghai Disneyland will be able to enjoy free entry or discounted prices either based on their age or height, instead of the current standard based solely on height.
A discount of approximately 25 percent will be provided to children aged between three and 11 years old (both inclusive), or with a height above 1 meter and up to 1.4 meters on the day of their visit.
Children under the age of three or no more than 1 meter in height will enjoy free entrance to the park.
Also beginning on Oct. 8, guests aged 11 and under will be able to enjoy the child benefits available at the resort's two themed hotels, Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel, as well as kids' meals at the resort's restaurants.
With improved diets, the average height of Chinese children is increasing, making some ineligible to enjoy premium entrance prices at an earlier age. However, many of the parks and resorts in China, including Shanghai Disney Resort, had continued to implement only height-based pricing, leading customers to call for improvement.
Now, besides Shanghai Disney Resort, over 240 scenic spots in the Yangtze River Delta are adopting or promoting "either age-based or height-based" pricing standards for children. Over 20 scenic spots in Shanghai such as Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, Shanghai Wild Animal Park and Yuyuan Garden have already applied a "tall-children- friendly" policy.
