BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- More than 620,000 poor Chinese households will get access to TV shows via donated TV sets ahead of the 70th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China.

The TV sets were offered by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the office of the Central Commission for Guiding Ethics and Cultural Progress, the National Radio and Television Administration and China Media Group.

The recipients include households in old revolutionary bases and poor areas in 24 provincial-level regions. Each will receive a 32-inch LCD color TV of a domestic brand.

All localities shall make unified arrangements to cover the subscriber fees and other related expenses, as none of the recipients should be charged for services, said a statement by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.
