BEIRUT, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank announced Thursday that it will offer Lebanon a subsidized loan of 100 million U.S. dollars for the development of different Lebanese areas, the National News Agency reported.

Meanwhile, the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank and the French Development Agency will contribute with a subsidized loan of 80 million euros (88.5 million dollars) and a donation of 20 million euros (22.135 million dollars), the report said.

The World Bank has been involved in projects in Lebanon for years, including programs aimed at supporting communities hosting Syrian refugees, the Lake Qaraoun Pollution Prevention Project and others.

Meanwhile, Lebanon has also benefited from long-term loans provided and managed by the European Investment Bank, notably for road transport infrastructure and waste water treatment projects.

The EU is also supporting Lebanon for capacity development and civil society through offering grant or loan projects done with either the government, the NGOs or international organizations.
