RIYADH, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen foiled on Thursday a "terrorist" attack south of the Red Sea, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The coalition's spokesperson Turki Al Maliki said in a statement that the coalition detected on Thursday an attempt from Houthi militias to carry out a "hostile" act south of the Red Sea by using a remote-controlled booby-trapped boat.
He said that the Houthi militias launched this boat from Hodeidah in Yemen. The boat was destroyed before reaching its target.
"The attempt represented a threat to regional and international security as well as to maritime routes and global trade," he said.
The coalition had warned the international community of the threats of the Iran-backed Houthi militias through their ongoing "hostile" attacks against Saudi border cities and ships in the Red Sea.
