RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid are preparing an offer to sign highly rated Flamengo teenager Reinier, according to media reports in Brazil and Spain.
The 17-year-old burst into Flamengo's first team in July and has since scored three goals and provided two assists in just eight Brazilian Serie A appearances.
According to newspaper O Globo, Atletico representatives met with Flamengo officials in Rio last month to discuss a possible transfer.
Reinier, who has also reportedly attracted the interest of Premier League clubs, has a 62 million-euro (70 million US-dollar) buyout clause written into his Flamengo contract.
He is the latest talent to emerge from Flamengo's production line of promising young players. In the past two years, the club has sold teenage forwards Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo to Real Madrid for 39 million euros and 45 million euros, respectively.
