JERUSALEM, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- New rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel on Wednesday morning, on the second day of an escalation of violence between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.

The rocket attacks triggered air raid sirens in the southern Israeli towns of Netivot and Ashkelon.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

Israeli strikes at Gaza continued overnight, with at least 11 people killed since Tuesday morning, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The Israeli army said the strikes targeted sites and infrastructures belonging to the Islamic Jihad.

On Tuesday, some 190 rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza as violence escalated after Israel killed Baha Abu al-Atta, a senior commander with the Islamic Jihad, in a predawn attack on his home in the al-Shuja'eya neighborhood in eastern Gaza.

About half of the rockets fell on open areas and most of other rockets were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome anti-rocket system, said the Israeli army, which launched a series of air and artillery attacks at Gaza in revenge.
