LUSAKA, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Friday said the 5-0 loss to Algeria in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match was unacceptable.

On Thursday night, Zambia were beaten 5-0 by Algeria in the Group H of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game.

The Zambian leader made the remarks in a statement posted on his Facebook page.

He said soccer fans deserve better and that there was need to find a winning formula and take the country back to its days of soccer glory.

Since winning the 2012 cup, Zambia has failed to qualify for two consecutive Africa Cup finals.
