KUNMING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province arrested three suspects and seized 197.49 kg of drugs in a recent case, local authorities said Thursday.

After receiving a tip-off on cross-border drug trafficking in early September, police in Menglian Dai Lahu and Wa Autonomous County set up a task force and dispatched police officers to the China-Myanmar border city of Lincang to investigate the case.

On October 17, police captured three suspects in Lincang at around 3:00 a.m. Seven bags of drugs were seized from a suspect's vehicle, including 80.41 kg of methamphetamine and 117.08 kg of heroin.

With the capture, police have successfully busted a drug gang that had been trafficking drugs from abroad into China for a long time, according to the Office of Yunnan Provincial Narcotics Control Commission.

The details of the case were disclosed for the first time on Thursday.

Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
