MONTEVIDEO, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Club Nacional secured their 47th Uruguayan first division title here on Sunday with a 1-0 victory over traditional rivals Penarol.

Midfielder Matias Zunino broke the deadlock in the 81st minute at Estadio Centenario with a first-time finish from the edge of the six-yard box after Sebastian Fernandez's cross.

Penarol finished the match with just nine men on the pitch after Ignacio Lores and Kevin Dawson were both sent off in the last five minutes for rash challenges.

The result handed Nacional a berth in the group stage of next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition.

Penarol, who were aiming for their third consecutive league triumph, are the most successful club in the history of Uruguay's first division with 50 titles.
