TEHRAN, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Iran will host an international meeting on regional security on Wednesday, Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, announced on Tuesday.

Shamkhani said in a statement that the 2nd meeting of the Regional Security Dialogue will be held in Tehran with the attendance of top security officials of Iran, Russia, China, India, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The one-day gathering will focus on the issue of Afghanistan and the fight against various forms of terrorism in the country, Shamkhani said.

On the sidelines of the event, bilateral meetings between the national security advisers and secretaries attending the meeting will be held, the Tasnim news agency reported.

The first Regional Security Dialogue was held in September last year in Tehran to discuss increasing regional cooperation against terrorism.
