Uganda beat Kenya to win regional women's football tournament

KAMPALA, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Uganda beat Kenya 2-0 in the final of the inaugural Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) U-17 Women's Challenge Cup.

At the match played in the central Ugandan district of Buikwe, Uganda scored through Fuazia Najjemba and Juliet Nalukenge.

The win sees Uganda finish with 13 points to become champions of the tournament that was being played on a round robin basis.

"We worked as a team and won four games and drew one. We are happy to lift this trophy," said Najjemba after the game.

Tanzania came second in the tournament with 11 points and Kenya third with seven points.

Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Djibouti, Burundi and Eritrea took part in the tournament.
