RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's Sao Paulo Stock Exchange registered on Wednesday record-high figures on main indicator Ibovespa.

The indicator once reached 114,339 points during the day, and closed at 114,314 points, up by 1.51 percent from Tuesday.

It has been registering several record-high levels in December. This month, it accumulated a rise of 5.62 percent, with a total increase of 30 percent for 2019 so far.

If the indicator continues to increase, it will reach the fourth consecutive annual rise and may surpass the 39-percent rise registered in 2016.

Oil giant Petrobras' common and preferred stocks were up 2.6 percent and 2.3 percent respectively, while stocks of two of the largest Brazilian banks Itau Unibanco and Bradesco were up 1.28 percent and 2.8 percent respectively.

News on the domestic front might have contributed to the positive results of the day. President of the Senate Davi Alcolumbre announced that a special House/Senate committee to discuss a tax reform will be formed. Besides, Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said at a press conference that a proposal for a tax reform will be sent to Congress in the upcoming weeks.
