Xinhua News Agency Seeks English Copy Editors [Beijing]

The sports department of Xinhua News Agency is recruiting native English speakers for full-time positions in Beijing. Duties will include editing social media posts for Xinhua Sports accounts on various platforms. Occasional editing of news copy written both by local Chinese staff and freelancers from Xinhua’s various overseas bureaus in Europe, Africa, and the Americas will also be required. Social media editors will also be given frequent chances to do field reporting at a variety of sporting events, including live broadcasting.

Ideal candidates will posses excellent writing skills, a keen editing eye, the ability to work against deadlines, and flexibility to work odd hours and weekends when necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Native speakers under age 50 with at least a bachelors degree (degrees in English, Journalism preferred).

2. Previous experience in news reporting and/or editing and/or presenting; experience in well-known media outlet or network is preferred;

3. A keen interest in China;

4. Good health, ability to work overtime and under deadline pressure;

5. Responsible, committed and a team player;
