TOKYO, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were practically flat Wednesday morning as higher crude oil prices attracted buying although this was offset by selling following U.S. shares retreating overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 16.63 points, or 0.07 percent, from Tuesday to 22,909.32.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 3.51 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,830.52.

Mining and oil and coal product issues led issues that gained, while rubber product and food issues led notable decliners by the morning break.
