BUCHAREST, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will no longer go to meet his Romanian counterpart on Tuesday, as originally set in his visit's agenda, amid a political crisis that toppled the head of government.

A delegation headed by Kotaro Nogami, deputy director of the Japanese Prime Minister's cabinet, the head of the economic mission, will go to the Romanian government instead, to meet Deputy Prime Minister Paul Stanescu, according to a statement of the cabinet.

Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Tudose resigned on late Monday after the ruling Social Democratic Party had decided to withdraw the political support for him.

Abe is expected to visit the Romanian presidential palace later in the day.

The discussion agenda includes "the stage and outlooks on strengthening the very good relations of the Renewed Partnership between Romania and Japan, in terms of politics, economy, culture, security and people-to-people relations", the Presidential Administration said in a statement.

Meanwhile, topics will also be tackled such as Japan's cooperation with the EU and cooperation in tackling the Korean Peninsula issue.

Abe arrived in Bucharest on Monday for the first visit to Romania of a Japanese prime minister in the history.

Abe left Tokyo on Friday for a diplomatic tour in Central and Eastern Europe, including three Balkan countries -- Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania.
