RABAT, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria beat Angola 2-1 in overtime in the Moroccan city of Tangier to secure their place in the semifinals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

After a goalless draw in the first half, the two teams logged one of the best performances of the tournament in the second.

After the break, Angola took the lead at the 55th minute thanks to Vladimir Felix.

The Super Eagles pushed afterwards to equalize, but their efforts did not pay off until the second minute of the additional time through Anthony Okpotu.

In overtime, Nigeria became even more determined to end the game before the penalties. Substitute Okechukwu Gabriel secured the win for the Super Eagles at 109th minute.

Nigeria, one of the favorites to win, will face Sudan in the semifinals in Tangier next Sunday.

Sudan advanced to the semifinals after defeating Zambia 1-0 on Saturday in the Moroccan city of Marrakech.

Forward Saifeldin Malik Bakhi scored Sudan's qualifying goal in the 32nd minute.

Morocco beat Namibia 2-0 to earn first place in the last four of the tournament on Saturday.
