UAE, Singapore seek to boost bilateral ties

DUBAI, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Singapore met on Thursday to discuss the means of strengthening the bilateral ties, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, the UAE minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, and visiting Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan discussed the latest developments in the region and a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE was keen to promote cooperation in various fields with the Southeastern Asian city state.

For his part, Balakrishnan praised the UAE's leading position on regional and international levels, while expressing his country's desire to promote mutual cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al-Falasi, the UAE minister of state for higher education and advanced skills, and Mohammed Omar Abdullah Belfaqeeh, the UAE ambassador to Singapore.
