NEW DELHI, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The repatriation of veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi's body to India has been further delayed, officials said Tuesday.
The UAE police officials have transferred the case to the local public prosecution.
"Following the post-mortem report, UAE police officials have transferred the case to public prosecution. Now the body will be brought to India only after getting proper clearance from the prosecution," a senior official in Mumbai said.
According to officials, the actress's body will only be released on the advice of the public prosecution, which will carry out regular legal procedures that are taken in these cases.
Indian consulate officials in UAE are in constant touch with the local authorities to expedite the repatriation procedures.
The post-mortem report released by Dubai police on Monday said 54-year-old Sridevi died due to "accidental drowning" in the bathtub of her hotel apartment after losing consciousness. The report said traces of alcohol were found in the blood of Sridevi, which is assumed to have led to her loss of consciousness.
Sridevi died on Saturday night in Dubai city where she had gone to attend a family wedding.
The news of Sridevi's death came as a huge shock to the entire film fraternity and to her fans. The actress has acted in over 300 films during her career.
