SAN FRANCISCO, March 2 (Xinhua) -- San Francisco-based innovation company LIFX announced Friday that its users in the United States can now control, via voice command, their lights with Microsoft's virtual assistant, Cortana.

LIFX said in a statement that with the Cortana integration, LIFX supports the leading voice assistants in the market, including Apple's Siri, Google Assistant and Amazon's Alexa.

Cortana is a virtual assistant of Microsoft designed to help its users get things done. It can set reminders and complete basic tasks such as turning LIFX lights on and off through simple voice commands.

"The addition of Cortana extends the accessibility and ease of operation of LIFX smart lights," said Tim Peters, chief executive officer at LIFX.

He said his company works hard to "bring the vision of the connected home to more people, and introduce new ways for our customers to enhance their environments with the perfect lighting."

LIFX pledges to provide the best experience to its users by connecting its lights to the fast-expanding range of smart home products worldwide, with an aim to help users create the ultimate integrated home.

With the help of the new feature, when LIFX lights are connected to Cortana, users can turn their lights on and off or change the brightness.

Cortana works with Windows 10 PCs, Harman Kardon Invoke smart speakers, Windows Mobile, Apple iOS, Android, Xbox One and other Cortana-enabled devices.

LIFX is a global company based in Silicon Valley that makes energy-efficient, multi-color, Wi-Fi-connected light bulbs and lighting.
