Canadian stock market edging up little Friday

TORONTO, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Canada's main stock index edged up little Friday as gains of mining and energy groups were offset by declines in financial group.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index edged up 4.7 points, or 0.03 percent, to end the day at 15,273.97.

Four of the index's 10 main groups closed higher.

The Canadian dollar dropped 0.09 cents to 79.34 cents.

The energy sector rose 1.1 percent while the materials sector added 0.8 percent.

The financials group lost 0.5 percent.

The largest percentage gainer was Aphria Inc, jumping 14.9 percent while the largest decliner was Maple Leaf Food, falling 4.9 percent.
