JAKARTA, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian badminton squad will target one gold medal in the Indonesian Open this year in the country, the association said here on Tuesday.

The event is scheduled to be played from July 3-8 in the Istora Senayan stadium located in Indonesia's capital, according to the Indonesian badminton association.

The chairperson for sport development in the association Susy Susanti said that the one-gold target was made based on the performance and capability of the country's shuttlers.

"The target is realistic as we have many athletes with good achievements," she said.

"We will undertake the best preparation work that we can for achieving the target," added Susanti.

The Indonesia Open is an annual badminton tournament organized by the Indonesian badminton association since 1982. It became part of the BWF Superseries tournament in 2007 and secured Superseries Premier status in 2011.
