Saudi king orders award of 2.6 mln USD for employees of gov't supervisory body

RIYADH, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud ordered on Wednesday the distribution of 2.6 million U.S. dollars among 353 employees of the General Auditing Bureau, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The cash will be given as an acknowledgement of carrying out their duties and supervisory works in the past year, the report said.

The organization is responsible for supervising the operations of government organizations to inspect any irregular act.

The body, along with many other measures, are against corruption that Saudi Arabia has been affirmed to win to succeed in its economic reform initiatives.

Last year, some Saudi top royal family members and officials were arrested over corruption charges and they were released after reaching settlements with the government, including giving away some of their money to the state.
