MACAO, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Macao's average composite consumer price index (CPI) for the past 12 months ended in June this year increased by 2.13 percent year-on-year, the special administrative region's statistic service has said on Monday.

The report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed on Monday that the increase of average composite CPI for the 12 months ended in June was due to the increases in the price indices of medical care (4.88 percent), education (4.73 percent), as well as clothing and footwear (4.43 percent).

The DSEC also added that the composite CPI in June increased by 3.11 percent year-on-year to 112.84, up by 0.14 percent from the previous month.

The increment in June was attributable to higher charges for eating out, rising rentals for dwellings and parking meter rates, as well as increasing prices of gasoline and woman's clothing and footwear.

Meanwhile, the average composite CPI for the second quarter of 2018 (112.44) increased by 2.99 percent year-on-year, and the average composite CPI for the first half of 2018 rose by 2.75 percent year-on-year.
