DUBAI, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Targeting the two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea by Yemen's Houthi rebels "confirms the need to liberate Hodeidah from the Houthi militias," said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash on Thursday.
Gargash said through Twitter "The systematic attack on maritime navigation is a terrorist act that is hostile and expresses the nature of Houthi and its aggression."
The minister added the Houthi's actions "confirm the need to liberate Hodeidah from the Houthi militias."
Saudi coalition forces to which the UAE armed forces belong have on Wednesday foiled an attack on a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea by Houthi militia, Al Arabiya local news reported.
The port city is a gateway to the Red Sea for northwest of the Arab peninsula state Yemen and for the city of Sanaa, which remains under Houthi control.
The coalition involved in a war in Yemen in support of Yemeni elected government confirmed that the tanker suffered minor damage.
The coalition has been accusing Iran of supporting the Houthi rebels through the supply of weapons and missiles.
The militias frequently respond to the airstrikes by the coalition with missile attacks against Saudi Arabia, mainly its border cities. Most of them are intercepted by the air forces.
