PARIS, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Ligue 1 side Monaco announced on Friday that they have signed talented Russian midfielder Aleksandr Golovin from Russian outfit CSKA Moscow on a five-year deal, tying him up with the club until June 2023.
"This is a new adventure for me that I approach with a lot of ambition. I am now very much looking forward to meeting the staff and my new teammates to get going," said Golovin after signing the contract.
Golovin, 22, made his first division debut in 2015. He has played 113 games, including 23 games in the Champions League and Europa League, in three professional seasons with the Moscow club being crowned Russian champion in 2016.
He won the Euro U17 in 2013 and reached the final of the Euro U19 in 2015. Selected for Russia's senior squad in the same year, he scored two goals in his first two matches.
After participating in the Euro 2016, Golovin contributed to hosts Russia's quarterfinal run at the 2018 World Cup, scoring a goal and delivering two assists. He has 23 senior appearances for Russia and is regarded as one of their best young prospects.
Monaco side Vice-President Vadim Vasilyev shed light on Golovin's talent and experience.
"He is a talented young player, and very prominent during the World Cup," said Vasilyev. "We have been following him for a long time. He already has solid experience in Russian first division and internationally."
"Despite the competition from very large European clubs, Aleksandr has chosen the sporting project of Monaco, which will offer him the best conditions to continue his progress," Vasilyev added.
