TEHRAN, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- In a terrorist attack on Iranian border police near the western city of Baneh, four security guards were injured, Tasnim news agency reported on Friday.

According to the Governor of Baneh Mohammad Fallahi, the "anti-revolution terrorist groups" attacked a patrolling vehicle of border police on Thursday night.

The shoot-out with border guards broke out in Barde Bouk road near Abulhassan village in the vicinity of Baneh, Fallahi told Tasnim.

The attackers are currently at large and a manhunt is underway to catch them, Fallahi added.

The injured are not in critical situation and are recovering from injuries, the governor said.

Western and northwestern Iran has been the scene of deadly clashes between the Kurdish armed rebels and the Iranian security guards over the past years.
