SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Leading U.S. audio technology company Dolby Laboratories (Dolby Labs) on Tuesday announced it was partnering with Chinese Wanying Cinema Line (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. to extend its footprint in China.
The San Francisco-based company is teaming up with Wanying Cinema Line to launch a Dolby Cinema in Shenzhen with more to follow in southeast China in the next two years, it said in a statement.
Since the company invented the advanced audio technology called Dolby Atmos, it has been promoting the entertainment technology around the world, especially in the Chinese market.
"Since we opened our first site in China two years ago, we have witnessed moviegoers' growing passion for the dramatic and immersive Dolby Cinema experience," Doug Darrow, senior vice president of the cinema business group at Dolby, said. "The partnership with Wanying Cinema Line will allow us to bring the highly acclaimed Dolby Cinema experience to even more cities across China."
Established in February, Wanying Cinema Line is wholly owned by China Resources Land, a leading commercial real estate company in China. It has a self-operated, high-end film center, the MIXCINE.
"It is our goal to offer the best-in-class moviegoing experience to our patrons, and total premium cinema experience offered by Dolby Cinema is exactly what we need to achieve that goal," Hua Chen, general manager of Wanying Cinema Line, said.
The first Dolby Cinema in China -- as well as in Asia -- was launched in June 2016 in partnership with Wanda Cinema Line.
Since then, more than 30 Dolby Cinemas have been opened in China in partnership with other theater operators, including Jackie Chan Cinema.
In April, Dolby established a partnership with Guangzhou Jinyi Media Corp., one of China's largest cinema circuits, to open 20 Dolby Cinema locations in four years.
