BERLIN, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Veteran defender Daniel Brosinski has agreed to terms on a contract extension, Mainz announced via the club's official homepage on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old right back has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension, which binds him with the "Nullfuenfer" until June 2020.

"Daniel Brosinski fits very well with his sporting qualities and playing style to the footballing philosophy of Mainz. He fully identifies with the club and enjoys a tremendous standing in the team. We are pleased that Daniel extended his contract ahead of schedule," Mainz' sporting director Rouven Schroeder said.

Brosinski plays since 2014 for Mainz after joining from lower league side Greuther Fuerth. He provided 15 assists and 5 goals in overall 136 Bundesliga appearances.

"I am pleased to continue with the Mainz family and to contribute to the successful story of this club both, on the pitch and next to the pitch," Brosinski said.

Mainz will face Stuttgart for their Bundesliga opener on Sunday.
