Former NBA superstar Stoudemire returns to Israel

JERUSALEM, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Former NBA superstar, Amar'e Stoudemire, will play for Hapoel Jerusalem B.C. in the coming season, the Israeli club announced on Monday evening.

Stoudemire, aged 35, played NBA basketball for 15 years; spending time at the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat.

In the 2016-2017 season he led Hapoel Jerusalem to Israel's national championship. Hapoel Jerusalem said that it is "pleased to announce that Amar'e Stoudemire is returning for a second period with the team. He was one of the outstanding players in the team during the championship season."

"I am very happy that Amar'e is coming back to us, it's no secret that both sides wanted his return. We are counting on his ability to contribute to us on all fronts, both professionally and in [terms of]leadership," the team's coach, Oded Katash said.
