SINGAPORE, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday as the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went up 0.53 percent, or 16.92 points, to close at 3,236.08.
A total of 1.15 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 843.8 million Singapore dollars (about 617.7 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 198 to 158.
The STI index went up 0.05 percent, or 1.48 points, to close at 3,219.16 on Monday.
